Bear Prototype

I went to Daiso and bought this really colourful bear toy. I didn’t realise how expensive soft toys have become, so Daiso ended up being the most affordable option for something I was going to cut open and experiment on.

First things first, I had to open it up, remove all the stuffing, and cut out holes for the eyes. I measured the width of the screen so it would fit properly behind the holes I cut out.

After inserting the screen eyes, one thing I don’t really like is that there’s a slight gap between the screen and the fabric of the bear, since the screen is flat. The gap really bothers me because it’s quite obvious, and you can see the edges of the screen if the fabric shifts too much.

I’m hoping that once everything is taped down and restuffed, the stuffing will push the screen more against the fabric and help cover that gap. I also need to get a mini breadboard because right now I’m not sure how to properly hide all the wiring.

I was thinking that placing everything inside the box might help hide the wiring, so I measured out the dimensions of the bear and started making a mockup for the box. I added extra height so there would be space for a platform to hide the Arduino underneath.
